InnovaCoat® GOLD - 20nm Streptavidin gold conjugate (10OD)
InnovaCoat® GOLD is a unique coated nanoparticle that has an avidly bound protective surface coat which can withstand the most extreme conditions (e.g. 2.5M NaOH at 70oC for ~2 hours).
By covalently attaching streptavidin to the surface coat the resulting InnovaCoat® GOLD-Streptavidin nanoparticles inherit the stability attributes of the core nanoparticle; moreover the streptavidin ligand cannot desorb, which is a major problem with all the competing products in which the streptavidin is directly attached to the metal.

The amount of biotin labeled antibody used in InnovaCoat® GOLD streptavidin in lateral flow assays should be optimised. In the following experiment a biotin conjugated rabbit IgG antibody was used, in combination with InnovaCoat® GOLD streptavidin, in a lateral flow assay with a test (t) line (Goat anti Rabbit IgG- GAR) and a control (c) line (biotin).
- Scenario 1 – Biotin conjugated Rabbit IgG (50-100 µg/ml) binds to the streptavidin GOLD producing a strong signal on the Test Line.
- Scenario 2 – Excess biotin conjugated Rabbit IgG (>400 µg/ml) results in competition between streptavidin Gold bound antibody and free antibody for the test line, leading to a weaker signal. The excess leads to binding of streptavidin Gold linked to biotin conjugated rabbit IgG to the control line.
- Scenario 3 – A lack of biotin conjugated Rabbit IgG leads to a very weak test line.
